Looking back at Anime Expo 2008

It was one of the better years. Some nice news about various things, but I wont be covering it since there’s other sites that do a much better job then I do.

Some people knew that I was working for hendane this year. Instead of being a con attendee, I was doing sales to people who were unfamiliar with doujin games and eroges. The nice thing about it is that I was able to help sell almost all Touhou and Higurashi stuff by day 2, even the sound novels sold! Simply amazing…

Another great improvement over the past few years, almost everything started on time except opening ceremonies.

Also Circus attended this year again, which made me really happy since I got another signature from Yuka Kayura (she is the character designer for Otome in Da Capo II) on my body pillow as well as another quick sketch from her on a sign board. To top it off I also got signatures from Takehito Harada (Disgaea artist) and Cy-Rim rev. (Moe music band, momo-i part 2 as someone would say). Unfortunately I missed out on getting a signature from Shokotan and Aina Kase (artist who performed the opening and ending songs to Sora wo Tobu, Mittsu no Houhou [空を飛ぶ、3つの方法。], an upcoming game).

There was also THREE mini-concerts at the Circus booth and each time that I attended, I did the wotagei, luckily a few others knew how to do the dance so we were able to lead the crowd to do stuff otaku would do in Japan. What made me feel especially happy was during the last day of the con Cy-Rim rev. and Aina Kase both said that they’re so happy that everyone was enjoying themselves and that the crowds were doing the same things Japanese fans would be doing.
