I lost my 5 million cruiser in EVE Online, that prompted me to scan this out of frustration. I also have 3 days left of my 14 day trial, undecided if I want to pay monthly.

KA-E-N done scanning

Well well well, I’m finally done scanning KA-E-N from Noizi Ito (�?と�?の�?ぢ). It’ll look a HELL OF ALOT better then the current set of scans floating around, I hate seeing poorly scanned stuff. Although I hate it even more when people claim they scanned it when in reality its from someone in Japan. You can take a look a unprocessed image. See how well can you clean it up. I’ll post my version and boon’s version in the near future.

Debinding KA-E-N

Step one: ha-sa-mi (find a bigger pair then mine)
Step two: target
Step three: Cut front cover off carefully (applies to hardcover only)
Step four: Peel back binding away from content
Step five: Cut back off (easier then cover)
Step six: Left with content
Step seven: Removing back binding, hot iron and foil (I heard you can use a paper cutter to cut the back off, but I don’t have one)
Step eight: rub the binding back and forth with the iron set to low and covered with foil (don’t want it to be too hot or else it’ll burn)
Step nine: start pulling, you just want to get the binding warmed up so its easier to rip apart (be extra careful, don’t want to rip any pages)
Step ten: half way done!
Step eleven: if you’re careful you’ll end up with something like this

My 3 copies came in the mail today, you can check out the cover here. 129 pages of art (ok not really, the last 10 pages is secret notes like Guren where there’s a story in the back)

Scans end of this month hopefully? Tomorrow I’ll document my debinding process :3
